Andrew originates from New Zealand and is a farrier by trade. He has lived in the UK since 1999. Although he has always ridden horses (he enjoyed playing polo Crosse in NZ), he has only been riding Icelandic’s since meeting Jemimah and riding competitively since 2012. In 2013, he qualified for the British Team on Komma f Barnegard to ride in T2.
As a farrier, Andrew is lucky to come into contact with many horses who compete in different disciplines, including the NZ eventing team who he shoes for and accompanies to world class events such as the Olympics.
Shoeing Icelandic horses is different in many ways for a traditionally trained farrier and Andrew likes to learn about the ways the shoeing of Icelandic’s can affect their gaits.
